DRIVER PROFILE: Alex Dane

My interest in drifting really set off in  2015. I lived close to Lucas Oil Raceway and would frequently drag race there, but happened to drive by the weekend of a Drift Indy event. I had no idea that drifting was an organized sport in the US. I made it my goal to get started right away but with many setbacks that would take a few years to overcome.
The first setback being, I knew nothing about automotive tech nor working on cars.
The second was choice in my car. I picked up a 1984 Nissan 200SX S12. It was RWD and manual. What more could it need? Well after  a few years and KA swapping it twice and going through 2 turbo setups, I had the car running how I wanted it to! Only for the rear axle to shear from the chassis.
Over the winter of 2017 into spring 2018, I transfered everything over to a caged shell of an S14 I purchased. Then at my first Drift Indy event, I spun a bearing on my FIRST LAP.

Then I learned my biggest lesson. Building cars is dumb. The first step should have been "get a car that drives and doesn't need work. GET SEAT TIME".

So here I am . I currently have a love for G35s because they're plentiful, relatively inexpensive, and
reliable. I currently own (2) G35 (owned 3 total) and have (2) 200SX S12 that are my pet projects. I can't forget where I came from and the struggles I've had to overcome.

I now have the competition bug and have been working on getting my car up on safety standards as well as upping my style game.

Currently doing the most I can with a stock power VQ35DE engine and have an LS1 that is in the build process for later / next season.  I know there's more potential that I can squeeze out of this car before bumping up the power.

I'm also attempting to get back into making music.  Here's a little something I threw together as an entry for Collab for the Crown, where T-Pain requested an automotive themed song. Music Major dropout, turned software engineer nerd, turned drift nerd, back to music nerd.
